Skin Care Treatment In Your Refridgerator

When it comes to skin treatment, there are few things more satisfyingly exquisite than a pampering facial. A facial mask can help you relax and rejuvenate at the end of the day, or can mark the transition from a stressful week of work to a weekend full of fun. However, a facial skin treatment at an upscale spa can cost upwards of a hundred dollars, and being worried about the impact on your wallet can take the relaxation right out of a facial. Luckily, it is possible to whip up your own moisturizing facial mask at home with ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now. Making your own skin treatment at home can help you get the feeling of upscale luxury without paying top dollar.
The easiest and perhaps most classic skin treatment involves a single, skin nourishing ingredient: pure honey. To open your pores, drape a warm washcloth over your face for about thirty seconds; then apply a thin layer of honey over the surface of your cheeks, chin, forehead, and any other places that could benefit from an additional infusion of revitalizing moisture. Lie down and relax for ten to fifteen minutes while the honey penetrates your skin and replenishes it with moisture; then gently wipe the honey away with lukewarm water and a washcloth. Splash your face with cool water to snap your pores shut, then pat your face dry gently to seal in the moisture. This simple skin treatment lets you put your best face forward, and can help you give an average day a very special feeling.
Oatmeal makes for another simple skin treatment that is ideal for problem skin. If you suffer from breakouts or sometimes have trouble controlling an oily shine, an oatmeal mask can help pull the excess oil from your face without drying out your skin. This mask will gives you with a healthy, matte complexion that is sure to leave you smiling. Simply mix a bit of water into pure rolled oats to create a thick, moist paste. To open your pores before applying the mask, fill a bowl with hot water and lean over it face first, with a towel draped over the back of your head to create a kind of steam tent. For an extra luxurious scent, add a tablespoon of your favorite herb, like peppermint or rosemary, to the water. Breathe deeply for five to ten minutes, allowing the steam to penetrate the surface of your face. Then, wipe away the moisture on your face with your towel and, using your fingertips, gently apply a thin layer of the oatmeal paste all over your face. Wait for the oatmeal to dry and harden, a process that usually takes between ten and fifteen minutes; then wipe it away with a damp, lukewarm washcloth. Pat your face dry, and enjoy the results of your exquisite homemade skin treatment.

What Oily Skin Treatment Works Best

Oily skin can lead to acne a skin condition most of us would want to avoid. So what oily skin treatment works best on these days?
We want to control the oil produced by our skin but at the same time keep our skin hydrated and protected. It is relatively easy these days to find oil free cosmetic products. We cannot afford to put an oil based product on our skin, it is the equivalent of pouring oil on a flame.
Our hormones play a link in the way our oil production glands work. Your hormones are to blame when being a teenager brings you out in a load of zits. Pregnant women or those facing into the menopause can also suffer from oily skin caused by hormone imbalances. A lack of vitamin B can cause a hormonal imbalance. You can have your doctor check if you suspect this is a problem.
Clay masks work very well with oily skins and will help to reduce and remove any blackheads and pimples you may have. The clay is oil free and as it dries, it goes hard absorbing excess oil. It also seems to reduce the size of your skin pores. It can’t in reality but it looks like it does which is the desired effect.
You need to cleanse your skin daily but try to avoid over washing as this will only cause your skin to become irritated, red and flaky. It is also a good idea to exfoliate your skin using a product containing lactic or glycolic acid but not if you have any inflamed pustules as you will only spread the infection.
Lavender is one oily skin treatment that works very well and is 100% natural. Lavender has been used for centuries as an antiseptic making it ideal for dealing with pimples and other bacterial infections that are common with this skin type. If you make up your own lavender tonic at home be sure to use sterile containers and keep it in the fridge. Some people can react badly to lavender and all other natural products so it is best to do a patch test first.
A slice of tomato is great for getting rid of blackheads and brightening your skin. The fruit acids gently loosen the surface skin cells. Clean your skin with cotton wool and water after 15 minutes. You need to let your skin breath after this treatment so don’t apply moisturizer.
You also need to learn to relax as oily skin can be a sign of too much stress in your life. Find something you like to do to help you unwind such as a massage or facial. Yoga is also a wonderful stress buster.
A number of patients with oily skin tend to skip applying moisturiser. This is not recommended as your skin will become dry and patchy if you do not use an appropriate hydrating cream. Always use suitable products as oily skin treatments if you want to get the best results.

Sunflower Oil: the Natural Skin Care Oil

Sunflower oil is used for more than just cooking: it is also an excellent product for use as a natural skin care oil that imparts many benefits when rubbed into your skin. For a start, it retains moisture, and in preventing your skin from drying out it helps to keep wrinkles at bay and your skin looking youthful and vibrantly healthy right from birth.
Yes, from birth, because it is used in hospitals on the skin of premature babies to protect it from infections to which young children are susceptible when in hospital, particular those born pre-term. How's that for an indication of how safe it is to use and how gentle it is on your skin? Yet it is extremely powerful at keeping away bacteria and maintaining youthful skin, and contains a rich mixture of vitamins and other natural substances that have a healthy effect on your skin and its pores. There is a lot more to sunflower oil than just that however. It is what is referred to as non-comedogenic, meaning that, unlike many other oily substances, it will not cause spots or pimples to form when you rub it into your skin. It is very good for acne sufferers, especially if the traditional acne remedies have failed. It is very high in antioxidants, particularly the antioxidant vitamins A, C and E, which prevent free radicals from damaging your skin and creating wrinkles and the appearance of premature aging.
Nobody likes having tough leathery skin that looks decades older than they really are, but that's what can happen to people who live in hot climates because of the action of ultra-violet light in strong sunlight on their skin. UV generates small oxygenated molecules known as free radicals that destroy your skin cell membranes. That makes your skin old looking and wrinkled, and even causes these ugly brown liver spots. Sunflower oil destroys these free radicals as soon as they are formed and offers a high degree of protection against sunlight and the other causes of free radical generation such as air pollution, tobacco smoke and pesticides.
Sunflower oil also contains fatty acids that kill off damaging bacteria on your skin, and the Vitamin D it contains supports your immune system to help prevent inflammatory conditions such as acne. In addition to their antioxidant properties, Vitamins C and E promote the growth of healthy new skin, and can rapidly repair and damage any blemishes from which your skin is prone to suffer, particularly during the cold winter months, again helping to keep it looking youthful and fresh.
You can find sunflower oil in the ingredients list of many expensive skin care products, including body washes, lotions and soaps, and although the natural oil itself is just as good as any of these expensive commercial products, it is better to use it in a purified form or along with other natural oils in mixtures designed to complement each other and make the best use of the skin care properties of each

Natural Environmentally-Friendly Household Cleaners

Many people use a vast array of chemical-laden household cleaners and products around the home on a daily basis.
What they may not be aware of is the fact that many of these chemicals can be damaging to their health when inhaled. Apart from the inhalation aspect, skin irritations often occur when coming into contact with many chemical cleaners.
Many disinfectants contain phenol ( aka carbolic acid ) or cresol. These can attack the central nervous system, liver, kidneys, spleen, and pancreas.
How can adding a load of chemicals to your home environment be good for your health and cleanliness. They may kill off the germs, sure, but human beings are gradually going to kill themselves off too, if they continue in this way. Many people aim to keep their homes a germ-free environment, but if our homes are kept so germ-free that our immune systems no longer have to work as hard, we run the risk of weakening our immune systems.
Another chemical-laden ( and one of the most dangerously toxic of all ) household product is oven cleaner. I have never personally used the stuff, as I remember the fumes when my mother used it when I was a child, and that alone was enough to put me off for life! How right I was. Many oven cleaners release fumes which may affect the respiratory system, and contain ammonia and lye, which eat the skin. I prefer to use baking soda and water, sprinkled inside the oven and left overnight. In the morning a good scrub finishes it off a treat. It does a wonderful job. Also you don't get any chemical residue odour the next time you use the oven.
Many artificial air fresheners release nerve-deadening agents, which can interfere with your sense of smell. Natural aromatherapy oils would be a much safer bet.
In a time when respiratory illnesses such as asthma are at an all-time high, we should be looking to a more natural and gentle way of keeping our homes clean.

At-Home Treatments for Beauty on a Budget

What would you do if you could achieve the benefits of a professional skin care treatment at home for a fraction of the cost of a visit to the doctor or aesthetician? Cancel your next appointment, of course!

Today, at-home skin care kits are becoming more popular and more advanced, giving consumers an affordable option for looking beautiful.

"There is a significant increase in the number of women who are looking for affordable, at-home, anti-aging alternatives to professional treatments," said Dr. Lydia Evans, consulting dermatologist for L'Oreal Paris.

One of the most requested and most expensive cosmetic procedures today is microdermabrasion, a treatment in which irregularly shaped aluminum oxide crystals are used to exfoliate dead skin cells, lifting them up and off of the skin's surface.

With professional microdermabrasion, it takes typically four or five treatments to really see the results, and that can add up to about $1,000 or more.

If you want similar results at home, Evans recommends L'Oréal's ReFinish Micro-Dermabrasion Kit, which uses the same crystals as the in-office treatment and also contains a biosaccharide complex, a component that helps prevent irritation and soothes the skin. This product is designed for anyone who is looking to achieve fresh, glowing skin or reduce the signs of aging.

The price tag? L'Oreal ReFinish rings in at a suggested retail price of $24.99.

Another procedure that has become increasingly popular over the past several years is Botox, a treatment in which injections are made into the skin to decrease expression lines, like crows feet. Not only is the needle involved in this procedure intimidating, but it also comes with a hefty price of approximately $500 or more per session.

An alternative at-home treatment comes in the form of L'Oreal's Wrinkle De-Crease which helps reduce the appearance of those pesky lines caused by our everyday facial expressions like smiling and frowning.

How To Permanently Remove Acne Pimples From Your Skin

If you are an acne sufferer, then I am sure you would be interested in getting rid of acne. But the only way you can permanently get rid of your acne pimples is to ensure that you stop using all those over the counter acne treatments that you are used to.

A lot of acne sufferers are now discovering that those over the counter treatments don't work to a certain degree. What usually happens in most situations is that when you have a breakout on your skin and you use such products, the acne goes away for a period of time, and then it comes back again. You will keep going through the cycle over and over again.

Before now, acne sufferers were stuck with all those acne products that don't really work. But now all thanks to the Internet, you have the ability to locate the latest and best acne treatments without having to leave your house. The best acne treatment is one that combats the root cause of acne and treats your skin also instead of just focusing on removing the acne which would later re-occur. The major cause of acne is hormonal imbalances. Your skin reacts negatively to the hormonal imbalances. The moment your skin gets clogged up with excess sebum (oil), acne causing bacteria begin to act on the sebum (oil) and this results in acne break outs.

To be able to deal with your acne condition permanently, you must fight acne both from outside and inside your body. By attacking the root causes of your acne pimples, you will be able to stop your acne from ever coming back.

There are a few products that combat acne from both inside the body and outside. These treatments contain herbal supplements that help regulate your hormones and prevent acne from developing. These treatments also contain a wash and cream that fights the acne causing bacteria on the surface of your skin. This helps rid your skin of acne pimples.

Dry Skin Treatment in Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayurvedic medicine is the traditional medicine of India. Treatment consists largely of herbs, fruits and spices, but much of it also revolves around self-care - living a lifestyle designed to prevent illness. Although India is quickly changing, daily life in India does not revolve around chemicals as does much of the West. They are therefore not as susceptible to dry skin caused by contact with harmful chemicals. In the Western world, thousands of doctors are now recommending a shielding lotion as dry skin treatment, but Ayurvedic medicine also offers some good advice.

In Ayurveda, defined as "the science of life," health is defined as an active state of wellness. In other words, you are not merely disease free, you are able to live life to the fullest. Ayurveda approaches wellness by adjustments in diet, daily routine and environment as required for your age, stress level, and lifestyle.

Basic to Ayurveda is the theory of the Five Elements spirit, air, earth, wind and fire. It is believed that everything in the material universe is a combination of these elements. The ratios differ in each of us, and determine our spiritual, mental and physical constitution. Skin that is dry and tight is 'air predominant', and dry skin treatment consist of diet, skin protection, and a lifestyle appropriate to an 'air' skin type.

Here are a few key things that would be recommended:

 Cook with clarified butter or olive oil.
 The most beneficial foods are rice, oatmeal and buckwheat, mung dai lentils, asparagus and zucchini, stewed apples and pears (for breakfast), seasonal fresh fruits, soaked walnuts, and soaked and blanched almonds.

 The recommended spices for dry skin treatment are turmeric, cumin, coriander and fennel in a ratio of 2/3/6/6. This spice mixture is sauted in clarified butter and added to food after or during cooking.

The lifestyle suggested includes going to bed early, walking for 20 minutes in the morning, taking regular short breaks while working, and deep breathing.

Protecting the skin from harsh chemicals and retaining moisture are the two most prevalent recommendations for air predominant skin. Drinking lots of spring water with a pH balance of 7.5 to stay hydrated and staying away from chemical-laden skin care products are at the top of the list. Ayurvedic healing also recommends wearing a protective coating such as a moisturizer on your face and hands, and lip balm to protect your lips

While moisturizers do coat the skin, they are not an effective dry skin treatment because they usually contain drying chemicals and greasy substances that prevent the skin from breathing. A good shielding lotion is the best alternative. It bonds with the outer layer of the skin to form a protective barrier that allows the skin to breath, protects it from harsh weather and environmental chemicals, and locks in the skin's natural moisture. It is the best dry skin treatment available, and fits very nicely into the treatment recommended by Ayurvedic healers.

Skin Treatment - Methods To Remove Scars

Scars are a problem for all the people who wish to look young and smart. A scarred face always troubles us and affects our psychology. Talk to people affected by acne scars all over their face and you will realize the impact of scars on the self-esteem and confidence.

Skin treatment for scars may follow many procedures. That will depend on the age of the person, the location of the scar and the nature of the scar. If the scar is superficial, it can be treated with microdermabrasion or medium chemical peel, while a deeper scar will need more intensive treatments such as laser resurfacing or deep chemical peel. It is interesting to note that all of us have different scar forming tendency. Some of us form deeper scars compared to others who form mild scars for similar injury.

If the scar mixes with wrinkles it is less of a problem. But if it shows prominently on the cheek, one has to get it treated. Many methods are available for resurfacing the skin. All methods produce different results. The costs will be different and so will be the postoperative time of recovery. You have to therefore talk to your doctor about your scars and the treatment. Chemical peeling, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, surgical excision, are few of the techniques that are used to treat scars. You need not suffer scars. Consult your doctor and get treated.

Skin Treatment - Keloid Scars

Scars are a problem for all of us. Any injury, inflammation or wound causes scar. The scars are for lifetime, except few that fade away over years. The major problems are Keloids that are raised scars. Not all of us develop keloids. But some of us those develop feel very embarrassing about keloids.

Keloids are raised scars. They form in response to an injury. When body suffers an injury, it rushes its defense molecules including white cells to save itself. The scars form as the skin heals. In most of the people the skin heals withan indent. In some people body pushes more of collagen at the site of injury and a hard mass forms that is called keloid.

It is difficult to treat keloids. If new surgery is performed to remove keloids, it will produce more of them. That is the challenge. Some doctors treat keloids by injecting them with steroid injections. Slowly the keloid dries out. Some doctors cut the keloid with laser and inject the site with steroid injection to stop new keloid forming. Silicone gels and sheetings are also used to treat keloids. Keloids are a problem and those of you who suffer from them must avoid all possible injury to body and consult your doctor when you form keloids

Diagnosis of Skin Cancer

Clinical diagnosis is made with visual appearance or with the aid of a dermatoscope. The ABCD guideline is helpful for identifying dysplastic nevus and melanoma. Clinical diagnosis can only be confirmed with a skin biopsy. Most skin biopsies are done under local anesthetic with an injection. A shave biopsy is good for diagnosing basal cell carcinoma, while not as well for squamous cell carcinoma. A punch biopsy is preferred for diagnosing squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma over the shave biopsy technique. Excisional biopsy (where the entire lesion is removed down to the deep dermis and subcutanous fat) is the method of choice for diagnosing melanomas. However, for cosmetic reason and practical reasons, a punch biopsy is often used to initially diagnose many large melanomas or melanomas of cosmetically important anatomic locations (nose, face, eyelids, nails, fingers and toes.

Types of Skin Cancers

The most common types of skin cancers are:
  • Basal Cell Carcinoma
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma
  • Melanoma
Basal cell carcinomas (BCC) is the most common. They are present on sun-exposed areas of the skin, especially the face. They rarely metastasize, and rarely cause death. They are easily treated with surgery or radiation.
Squamous cell carcinomas(SCC) are common, but much less common than basal cell cancers. They metastasize more frequently than BCCs. Even then, the metastasis rate is quite low, with the exception of SCCs of the lip, ear, and in immunosuppressed patients.
Melanomas are the least frequent of the 3 common skin cancers. They frequently metastasize, and are deadly once spread.
Less common skin cancers include: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, Merkel cell carcinoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, keratoacanthoma, spindle cell tumors, sebaceous carcinomas, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, Pagets's disease of the breast, atypical fibroxanthoma, leimyosarcoma, and angiosarcoma
The BCC and the SCC often carry a UV-signature mutation indicating that these cancers are caused by UV-B radiation via the direct DNA damage. However the malignant melanoma is predominantly caused by UV-A radiation via the indirect DNA damage.[citation needed] The indirect DNA damage is caused by free radicals and reactive oxygen species. Research indicates that the absorption of three sunscreen ingredients into the skin, combined with a 60-minute exposure to UV, leads to an increase of free radicals in the skin, if applied in too little quantities and too infrequently. [6] However, the researchers add that newer creams often do not contain these specific compounds, and that the combination of other ingredients tends to retain the compounds on the surface of the skin. They also add the frequent re-application reduces the risk of radical formation.

The Importance of Shape

You may think you know when you look in the mirror, or you may be too busy trying to cover up unshapely areas to really see yourself as you are. Do you know how much fat you’re carrying, compared to how much muscle? Do you know where you tend to gain weight–upper body, lower body or around the middle? Until you know the answers to these questions, you are not ready to make your personal plan for losing weight and keeping it off. Understanding your body is the first step to reaching your best personal shape. As someone who teaches both doctors and the public about obesity, I believe weight loss has been overemphasized and body shape underemphasized. You have probably read about the Body-Mass Index (BMI), which is a weight-to-height ratio. If your BMI is greater than 25, you are considered overweight in the U.S., and if it is greater than 30 you are obese. This ratio has been a powerful way for scientists to document the obesity epidemic in this country and its effects on health and disease. However, when it comes to you as an individual, it can be misleading. A football player can be considered overweight on the BMI scale, but if the extra weight being carried is muscle, he is not really fat. A thin woman can have a normal BMI, yet still be over-fat. So shape counts.
Shapes are personal and go beyond the usual apple and pear. Women can have three typical body shapes–upper body fat, lower body fat and both upper and lower body fat. Men usually only get upper body fat. The upper body stores fat in times of stress and some people can lose and gain weight rapidly in the upper body. The lower body fat in women responds to female hormones such as estrogen and progesterone and stores fat for breastfeeding a newborn baby. Women who have both upper and lower body fat will lose their upper body fat first. Women with more upper body fat tend to have more muscle than women with lower body fat and will need more protein in their diet to help control their hunger. Losing weight is harder if you have lower body fat rather than upper body fat, but the medical benefits of losing your upper body fat are greater. Losing weight around your neck, face, chest and waist usually goes along with losing fat on the inside as well. So as you look better, you are also improving your health tremendously.
Finally, there are two more body shapes to consider: The shape you can change and the shape you can’t change. It is important to know the difference and work on the shape you can change, while adjusting your wardrobe and attitudes to the shape you cannot change. Due to low metabolism, many women with lower body fat can’t lose weight just by cutting calories. These lower body-fat cells are resistant to both exercise and diet. Only a personalized program can help make sure you get enough protein to control cravings and build or maintain lean muscle.
supplements and medications, and also their body image
For the woman, it is mainly due to the fact that they are birth givers, which naturally takes place for them once or even more during their lifetime. Pregnancy is a major event for a woman and that alone should need a good record to track their health. Initially, both menstruation and breast health are critical to a woman's body. These may give sexual desire for men, but it is also important to be in good health for a normal and healthy offspring. During sexual activity, women sometimes feel pain, and this too should be considered as well. Gynecological concerns are important also, since it is the cleanliness and health of the woman's vagina. Other concerns also include desire, pleasure, orgasm, contraception, much similar to those of men

The Key to Anti-Aging Health

Age, it's a natural part of life. But just because you're getting older doesn't mean you have to look like it. With a few simple steps anyone can look and feel younger than they actually are. One of the biggest steps someone can take in the battle against age is to lead a healthy lifestyle. Anti-aging health is all about your lifestyle, eating habits, fitness, and a number of other factors which can affect how well a person ages. Maintaining such a lifestyle requires a certain level of commitment and dedication.
Eat Those Vegetables
A major step in combating age is committing to healthy eating habits. It's important not to indulge too much on one food or another, especially when it contains a lot of fat or grease. Each person is individual in their dietary needs, and it's a good idea to find out that which best suits you, and you can find many books that will help you to determine which foods will be most beneficial for your body type. But generally speaking, a healthy cycle of fruits, vegetables, and grain along with moderate portions of meat is suggested for those wishing to live a more healthy life. Dietary needs are key to slowing the aging process to some extent, and the more efficient and healthy your body, the less work it requires to do its job.
Choosing a lifestyle
Another very important step in anti-aging health is lifestyle habits. Things like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and some eating disorders can all affect the way a person ages. Smoking for instance inhibits the body's ability to process oxygen, preventing the body from feeding your cells. It is direly important that any person concerned with their health and especially their age, maintain healthy lifestyle habits.

Exercise is perhaps one of the most important factors concerning anti-aging health. Exercise in moderation gives the body numerous benefits like more efficient blood flow, healthier muscles, increased bone stability, and even oxygen to the brain is increased during exercise. Anyone concerned with anti-aging health should be prepared to set an exercise regiment. It is important to be willing to stick with this regiment after you start; just occasionally going to the gym doesn't count.
Set reasonable goals, as starting out on a 10k run is probably not the best idea and can cause more harm than benefit. Of course in the fight against aging there can be any number of factors to consider. But for anyone generally concerned with their age and health, these few tips can be the key to adding a few extra years to their life.

Risk Factors of Skin Cancer

Skin cancer has many potential causes, these include:
  1. Studies have show that smoking tobacco and related products can double the risk of skin cancer.[4][5]
  2. Overexposure to UV-radiation may cause skin cancer either via the direct DNA damage or via the indirect DNA damage mechanism. Overexposure (burning) UVA & UVB have both been implicated in causing DNA damage resulting in cancer. Sun exposure between 10AM and 4PM is most intense and therefore most harmful. Natural (sun) & artificial UV exposure (tanning salons) are possibly associated with skin cancer.[citation needed]
    1. UVB rays primarily affect the epidermis causing sunburns, redness, and blistering of the skin when overexposed. The melanin of the epidermis is activated with UVB just as with UVA; however, the effects are longer lasting with pigmentation continuing over 24 hours.
  3. Chronic non-healing wounds, especially burns. These are called Marjolin's ulcers based on their appearance, and can develop into squamous cell carcinoma.
  4. Genetic predisposition, including "Congenital Melanocytic Nevi Syndrome". CMNS is characterized by the presence of "nevi" or moles of varying size that either appear at or within 6 months of birth. Nevi larger than 20 mm (3/4") in size are at higher risk for becoming cancerous.
  5. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is often associated with squamous cell carcinoma of the genital, anal, oral, pharynx, and fingers. It is believed that the HPV vaccine might help to prevent these cancers as well as cervical cancers.
  6. Skin cancer is one of the potential dangers of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation.

Skin cancer generally has a 20- to 30-year latency period[citation needed]. Many instances of skin cancer in older individuals today can be traced to behaviours as young adults in the 1970s and early 1980s[citation needed]. Sunburns represented an inconvenient rite of spring or an awkward preliminary stage in the process of acquiring a "healthy" tan. Severe burns were commonplace. Today we know the approach to be reckless. The incidence rates of skin cancer today in persons over 50 years of age reflect that day's popular ignorance

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a malignant growth on the skin which can have many causes. The most common skin cancers are basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer, and melanoma which all trace back to the mutation of melanin cells. Skin cancer generally develops in the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin), so a tumor is usually clearly visible. This makes most skin cancers detectable in the early stages. There are three common and likely types of skin cancer, each of which is named after the type of skin cell from which it arises. Unlike many other cancers, including those originating in the lung, pancreas, and stomach, only a small minority of those afflicted will actually die of the disease.[1] Skin cancer represents the most commonly diagnosed cancer, surpassing lung, breast, colorectal and prostate cancer.[1] Melanoma is less common than basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, but it is the most serious—for example, in the UK there are 9,500 new cases of melanoma each year, and 2,300 deaths.[2] More people now die of melanoma in the UK than in Australia. It is the most common cancer in the young population (20 – 39 age group).[3] It is estimated that approximately 85% of cases are caused by too much sun.[citation needed] Non-melanoma skin cancers are the most common skin cancers. The majority of these are called basal cell carcinomas. These are usually localised growths caused by excessive cumulative exposure to the sun and do not tend to spread.

Secrets of Using Olive Oil For Skin Care

Olive trees are one of the first domesticated plants after wild grains, and there's evidence that some of the first permanent human habitations were founded in alluvial valleys with olive trees in the hills and flood plains for growing grains. In addition to being tasty when pickled, olives can also be pressed for their oil, which is used for a wide variety of cooking projects. The oil is also widely used for beauty and health issues dealing with the skin, and has been for at least 5,000 years, and probably longer.

Olives have a benefit - they don't require extra processing to get the oil out of the fruit; the less processing the oil gets, the higher its grade (but the shorter its shelf life). Olive oil also varies a bit by what soil the olive trees grew in. For both cooking and for beauty work, higher grade (called extra virgin) olive oil is better.

Olive oil is full of several fatty acids that are mild - these acids open up the pores and the fats are directly absorbable by the skin. The first use of olive oil as a cosmetic was as a mild astringent - to clean the pores of the face and clear up acne. (Yes, it sounds strange, smearing a fatty oil on your face to clear up acne, but it works!). In addition to this, it nourishes the skin and replenishes it, keeping your skin cells full and healthy on a cellular level; this leads to a beautiful, clear complexion.

It's also useful for oiling your hair, to keep it supple and conditioned, where it acts as a conditioner. This also adds a lovely shine to your hair, and keeps it nourished and less likely to fray or develop split ends. (Most commercial conditioners have enough cleaning agents in them that they can effectively double as shampoo.) It's also a good topical agent for helping heal dry fingernails and dry skin as a moisturizer.

Want some basic ways to use olive oil in your skin and body care regimen? Try these:

As a bath oil. Commercial bath oils are mostly glycerin; try using about a quarter cup of olive oil in a full drawn, very hot bath, and soak - do this after you shower; scrub yourself down with a loufa, but don't use a commercial soap. Towel off, draw a tub of water as hot as you can stand it and pour the olive oil into it and soak. By cleaning your skin before you soak, and keeping the water hot, you're letting your body absorb the oil in the most effective way possible. Using a few drops of a scented oil, or lighting some aromatic candles, can make this seem absolutely decadent.

As a topical skin rub. Use olive oil as a moisturizer on parts of your skin where dryness is an issue, such as the points of your elbows, the back of your hand, or feet. Indeed, if you want to keep calluses soft, rub olive oil into them regularly. (Handy hint: This also works for hard leather products)

Want smoother hands? Look no further than olive oil and sugar. Make a mixture that's got two tablespoons of oil and two tablespoons of sugar; rub them over your hands until the sugar dissolves, then rinse it off. A similar technique can be done massaging oil into your hands and feet and wearing cotton gloves or socks to bed to let it permeate the skin over time. Likewise, you can make a facial from olive oil, honey and an egg yolk; you need to blend these well, then apply it to your face to rejuvenate the skin; leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes, and then rinse normally - it will pull out a lot of oil from your skin and leave it glowing.

Looking to do a home nail treatment? Ever had your hands treated at a nail spa? Believe it or not, this is what they do - and they charge you $40 for it. You want a small dish, and you want olive oil at 'just shy of too hot' mixed with about a tablespoon of a mild acid (vinegar or lemon juice are traditional). Soak your nails in it for about 10 minutes, then rinse. You can also do this as a footbath for your toenails

Is a Skin Firming Lotion Review Dependable?

Whether you realize it or not, a skin firming lotion review is typically not a valid source of information about skin care products. These forums are very biased towards certain products, and are mostly little more than veiled advertisements for the cosmetics produced by a particular company. If you don't believe me, then let me give you a couple of things to think about.
These evaluations most often describe the good points about the formula that is featured, but they only gloss over what the product is actually made of. They may tell you how effective the formula is supposed to be, but unless you are familiar with all of the different ingredients that go into cosmetics products, then you simply have to take their word for it. This can get you into trouble.
A skin firming lotion review may say that the formula works to prevent wrinkles, because it contains the topical versions of collagen, elastin, or hyaluronic acid. Since you know that it is the loss of these three connective tissues that are the main cause of wrinkles, you may be under the assumption that adding these ingredients to your skin will stem the development of lines in your skin. You would be wrong however.
None of these three tissues are useful as ingredients in topical anti aging skin care formulas, because they cannot be absorbed by your skin. These compounds are all too dense to pass through the skin, but few people realize this. The cosmetics industry makes billions of dollars per year of the sale of products containing these components, because the average person has no idea that they are not effective.
That is not what I meant about getting into trouble though. Where you can get hurt is that a skin firming lotion review only gives you a list of the "highlights" so far as the ingredients go, and don't ever tell you about the various additives and preservatives that these formulas contain. This is most often due to the fact that these are made up of chemical agents that could be harmful to your health.
No appraisal of a product is going to tell you that what you are absorbing into your skin are chemical agents capable of causing the development of cancer, neurological disorders, and organ toxicity. This would be bad for sales, and revealing the truth about these agents could lead to the source of the assessment losing the advertising dollars of the product's manufacturer.

Forget about getting information that you can use from a skin firming lotion review. All that you need to do to find a product that is both safe and effective is to choose one that contains no chemicals, but only natural plant derived components. These compounds offer everything that your skin needs in order to become healthier and younger looking.
You don't need a skin firming lotion review to tell you what you should put on your skin. All natural formulas are what you need, and nothing more.

The Best Anti Wrinkle Cream on the Market is Not the One That You Probably Think it Is

With every product that comes down the pike being advertised as the best anti wrinkle cream on the market how are you supposed to determine which ones are truly effective? The success of any skin care formula comes down to whether it was developed using the correct combination of ingredients to make positive changes to your appearance. Most of the products that you see will not give you this positive change.
There is a reason that I always tell people that in order for them to choose a formula that will help their skin to become better, they need to educate themselves about the ingredients in cosmetics. You have to know what it is that you need in a cosmetics formula, and what you should definitely avoid, so that you can decide which one is right for you.
The best anti wrinkle cream on the market will contain all natural ingredients that will provide your skin with the tools necessary for reversing the effects of aging. You will find that very few formulas have what you need in order to provide your skin with the essential nutrients, antioxidants, and connective tissue boosters that are necessary if progress is to be made.
What you end up buying most of the time are formulas that have very few natural compounds in them, and the ones that are typically included do not do much for you. Take the collagen and elastin that you find in many of these anti aging formulas. These compounds are to dense to make penetrating the skin possible, and are therefore useless as ingredients.
The best anti wrinkle cream on the market does not attempt to treat your wrinkle through the introduction of new connective tissue through the skin. What it does is enhances the production process of the cells that form your own collagen and elastin by encouraging greater output. This method of increasing the connective tissue in your skin has been proven very successful.
This same formula also contains a derivative of sea kelp that drastically increases the amount of hyaluronic acid that is present. This acid is a major component of skin, and is involved in tissue repair. It is broken down over time by attacking enzymes and excessive exposure to UVB rays, but this kelp extract halts this destruction and allows the levels of hyaluronic acid to build back up.
These two components in the best anti wrinkle cream on the market are known as Cynergy TK and Phytessence Wakame. They were discovered just a couple of years ago by the research and development team of the company in New Zealand that now markets the product. Their formulas are 100% all natural, and have shown to be far more effective than any other anti aging formula available.
The compounds in the best anti wrinkle cream on the market will have your skin fuller, firmer, and wrinkle free within just a few short weeks. You should give this wrinkle reducing formula a try, before throwing your money away on another formula that won't give you results.

What Is Peel Skin Treatment?

The peel skin treatment, is a beauty treatment that has been used since the 1930''s for acne and wrinkle care and general improvement of the face. It''s helped many people reduce the damage caused to their skin as a result of scarring caused by acne as well as the effects of aging. The peel skin treatment is a six to nine day chemical method of gradually peeling the outer skin layers to reveal healthier, blemish and wrinkle-free skin layers underneath. It rejuvenates the skins appearance and helps to stimulate the lower layers of the skin to produce more healthier skin cells. It uses special chemicals that induce the outer layers of fine skin tissue to peel away evenly, a carefully controlled process that takes six to nine days to complete for optimum results.
While peel skin treatment used to be offered only in a doctor''s office, thanks to today''s inventions and less harmful chemicals, it can be done safely in the comfort of your own home. There are several excellent product lines available over the counter that can be used by anyone to dramatically improve the youthful glow of their skin. The skin peel can also be used effectively to remove such nuisances as age spots, freckles, and hyper pigmentation in the skin caused by sun damage or illness. If used over the prescribed six to nice days, the skin will peel evenly to reveal skin that is clear of these pigment issues.
The peel skin treatment is also useful to people who suffer from acne and blackheads, caused by clogged pores or toxic buildup in the skin. As the chemicals gently work on the layers of the skin, the pores are opened up, infectious oil, bacteria and toxins are expelled from the skin and the complexion is cleared. This is much less damaging than trying to squeeze the oil out of the skin or using other methods. The peel skin method leaves less noticeable scars and even improves the condition of existing acne scars or oversized pores. Skin is then free of marks and is restored to its former beauty.
Another advantage of using the skin peel method of improving the look of your skin is that it evens out the skin tones and reduces the affects of skin damage to the lower layers of the skin. Sometimes this damage can''t be seen right away, but over time it''s what causes wrinkles and discoloration to form. Using the skin peel, these damaged layers gradually work their way to the surface where they are sloughed off and new healthier skin layers can form. Using a skin peel followed by wearing proper sunscreen can slow down the aging process and preserve the younger skin underneath from further damage.
When used properly, the peel skin treatment is an effective means to improve the look and feel of your skin. Be sure to choose high quality products that are right for your skin type and consult with a knowledgeable skin care specialist before attempting to do this at home.

Wet-skin treatment for enhanced moisturization

* U.S. Patent No. 7,465,461 B2: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA has patented a method of moisturizing skin after treatment with a rinse-off, wet skin treatment composition. It entails applying to wet skin during a bathing process a treatment composition in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion.
The emulsion is comprised of 3-50% of a structured oil phase comprising a skin-compatible oil which is liquid at a temperature below about 35 [degrees]C and 1-75% of a structurant selected from the group consisting of petrolatum, trihydroxystearin, fatty acid, superhartolan, and mixtures thereof that forms a stable 3-dimensional network within said skin compatible oil comprising finely divided solid particles having a particle size below about 25 microns at a temperature below 35 [degrees]C. The aqueous phase is comprised of water and an organic dispersion stabilizer that contains a network of amorphous solids, crystals, a liquid crystalline phase, or mixtures of said solids, crystals or liquid crystalline phase. The composition is then rinsed off, wherein the structured oil phase has a viscosity of 100-5000 poise measured at 1 sec-1 at 25 [degrees]C. The structured oil phase is retained on the skin as measured by a skin retention efficiency index of at least 0.15 as determined in the in-vitro skin retention test. According to the patent literature, the emulsion has a foam volume below 5cc as measured in the solution shake test, and the retention of moisture is still measurable at least 30 minutes after the bathing treatment.

The root of Male Acne
The male body offers a perfect breeding ground for acne causing bacteria. Male bodies secrete a large amount of oil courtesy the male hormone- androgen. This latter factor is the primary reason for acne in men whose common skin care routine consists of having a shower or a shave with an after shave thrown in before facing the day's grind.

Skin Treatment News

Thanks to high-tech health and beauty solutions, increasing numbers of younger men and women are requesting kinder, gentler antidotes to aging skin. This trend is most apparent with the newest generation of laser light treatments that are minimally invasive, entail little or no recovery time, and are both time efficient and convenient.
The introduction of nonablative lasers as the next generation in facial skin rejuvenation was discussed by dermatologic surgeon and laser expert Roy G. Geronemus, MD, at the 1999 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
"The correction of facial wrinkles and laxity of skin using a laser that avoids injury to the skin and eliminates the lengthy healing process associated with resurfacing has been under consideration for some time," said Dr. Geronemus, director of the Laser and Skin Surgery Center of New York. "Most recently, we examined the concept of utilizing dynamic cooling with a specially designed 1320 nm Nd:YAG laser in a multicenter trial of 35 patients with wrinkles around the eyes," he reported.
The technique involves using a cryogen cooling system spray that protects the epidermis during non-ablative laser treatment, allowing it to be spared from heat damage or injury. The dermis, on the other hand, absorbs the heat of the Nd:YAG laser light but without any accompanying tissue removal or skin sloughing. The controlled thermal effect at the deeper layers of the dermis stimulates new collagen formation and tightens the underlying skin, improving fine lines and loose skin without inducing a superficial burn or skin injury.
According to Dr. Geronemus, patients usually experience minor redness of the treated area that typically disappears within hours to days. While repetitive treatment sessions are generally required to obtain the maximum benefit, the procedure is well tolerated, healing and recuperation are rapid, and results are subtle and natural. There also appears to be minimal risk of pigmentary change or skin tinting; however, most treatments to date were performed on light skin types.
Shortcomings of this procedure include less dramatic results compared to standard resurfacing techniques and the inability to significantly improve surface texture and blotching, which are noticeable signs of aging skin.
Dr. Geronemus concluded that "despite some limitations, nonablative lasers hold great potential for patients who wish to maintain and preserve a youthful appearance, especially younger men and women who want to prevent or postpone more invasive surgery. With additional clinical studies and optimization of laser parameters, the outcomes of this laser system may be further enhanced."
Skin Resurfacing Gets `Cool' with New Technology
Current methods of cosmetic skin resurfacing each produce excellent results but also carry a similar range of less than favorable effects. The desire to achieve predictable skin tissue injury, an ideal safety profile, and a high cost-benefit ratio prompts surgical skin care experts to examine other methods for tissue removal in resurfacing.
According to dermatologic surgeon Whitney D. Tope, MD, MPhil, a new multi-electrode radio frequency device may meet the preferred criteria. This novel technology, termed cold ablation or coblation, enables precise and rapid tissue removal with minimal thermal injury through a dramatically cooler process than that associated with conventional electrosurgical devices or lasers.
Presenting at the 1999 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Tope reported that coblation potentially offers immediate skin tissue effects conducive to successful skin resurfacing. It also carries important surgical and clinical advantages, such as quick wound healing, increased patient comfort, and utmost safety.
"The coblation process involves delivering normal saline on the skin with a metal stylet that conducts a cool electrical current across the treatment area," said the assistant professor of dermatology from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. "Rapid heating of the saline converts it into an ionized vapor layer called plasma, similar to that seen during excimer laser irradiation. The ionized plasma components interact with tissue, causing disassociation of the water molecules in the skin. This results in cellular disintegration or ablation of tissue in a shallow layer," explained Dr. Tope.
Because this process is confined to the surface layer of the target tissue and because it is achieved at cool temperatures, heat damage to surrounding tissue is greatly minimized. To the target tissue, however, sufficient heating occurs to create adequate hemostasis (interruption of blood flow) and gross tissue shrinkage. These effects correlate with a thin layer of denatured collagen in the treated dermis.
For the patient, this means the potential ability to erase fine-to-moderate wrinkling and revise surgical scars, along with a speedy recovery, reduced postoperative pain, and very few side effects.

Can Obagi Skin Treatment Products Really Make a Difference?

For time eternal humans have been plagued by acne and for just as long people have been applying substances to their skin to fight it. However; it was only a handful of decades ago that medicines began to be developed that had any actual effect on acne and benzoil peroxide is one of them.
Check out the info on Professional Serums from Obagi.
The fact is that benzoil peroxide is highly effective at treating acne but it does have one problematic side effect and that is that it tends to leave the skin dry, red, cracked and irritated. The main difference between Obagi skin treatment products and other benzoil peroxide containing skin treatment products that are on the market is that Obagi skin treatment products treat the entire skin not just the acne.
The fact of the matter is that visible problems that exist on the skins surface are actually symptoms of dysfunctions that are occurring below the skins surface in the substrate. ectly the skin must be elastic. Dry cracked skin can lead to pore opening that are essentially stuck open which in turn function as wide open portals for invading acne causing bacteria. Obagi also has acne treatment products that contain a five percent solution of benzoil peroxide which is the strongest acne fighting medicine that is available without a prescription. Is Herbal Skin Treatment Right For You?

Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines.

Rapid advancement in chemical processes and mass production has all but eliminated the once common herbal skin care treatment remedies.

This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things - our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialization of skin care.

Even herbal skin care products have been commercialized. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home.

Presently, there is a trend amongst the health conscious that are seeking truly natural skin care treatments that are produced without preservatives.

Even though we have the knowledge and understanding of the benefits of homemade herbal skin care treatments, the majority of us still opt to purchase products from the commercial market rather than make them ourselves.

Aloe Vera, which is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product.

Aloe Vera aids in healing cuts and treating sun burn due to its power as a natural hydrant. Aloe, when freshly extracted, has amazing abilities to help soothe the skin.

In addition to Aloe, there are several herbs that are known as powerful cleansers. Dandelion, lime, rosemary and chamomile are excellent for such purposes. They are especially effective when used in combination with other herbs such as tea.

Finally, one must mention the antiseptic qualities of herbs. Effective herbal skin care is part of an overall process which includes herbs such as marigold, fennel, thyme and lavender for the maintenance of healthy skin tone.

Relationship Between Milk of Magnesia and Pimples

Acne is one of the most common skin problems. This skin disorder can affect everybody regardless of their age or sex. These days, there are many options available as regards acne treatments that include home treatments, OTC anti acne products and even acne surgeries. Amidst numerous other treatment options, milk of magnesia is also being regarded as a likely acne cure.

Let us take a detailed look at this alternative. Essentially, milk of magnesia is a hydroxide of magnesium. Its chemical formula is Mg ( OH ) 2. It comprises of natural magnesium. This chemical substance draws its name from its milky white form. It works as a good hydrating diuretic and is often utilized to ease hard stools problem.

Milk of magnesia does offer some results as an acne cure. This substance may be employed as a topical anti acne solution and works well for people with oily skin. Milk of magnesia is primarily of alkaline nature. Applying this to your skin helps remove over the top oils from the skin surface. It must be observed that it is over the top sebum that is the root cause of acne. Thus, milk of magnesia deals with the first cause of acne and controls those breakouts.

Milk of magnesia also comprises of antibacterial properties. It acts as a disinfectant to kill acne causing organisms called P acnes. This chemical substance also prevents acne infection from extending to other parts of the face and thereby stops it from worsening further. Likewise, it helps you manage minor scarring and reduces the appearance of scars and blemishes.

[**] all said and done, this technique has limited powers to treat acne. Severe acne cases cannot be treated with the milk of magnesium. Also, the substance does not guarantee prevention against future breakouts.

OTC anti acne products are as good a choice as any in effective treatment of acne. Products like the Zenmed Derma Cleanse system are highly efficient in getting rid of the symptoms and works on all forms of skin disorders including, black heads, white heads, papules, pimples, Zits and also further severe forms of acne such as cysts and nodules. Acne treatment depends on ones skin type, because everyone's skin is different. What works for one person may result in worsening the condition when used on another. It is very important to know if your skin is oily, normal or dry, or if it is a combination skin. With acne being a never ending skin problem, researchers are always on the lookout for different forms of acne medication. Recent developments have lead to the introduction of acne gel applications to help reduce acne. Acne gel is one of the most affordable treatments in the market. It comes in different packages and are guaranteed to give relief for your soaring skin. It soothes your face and gets rid of the itchiness that you may encounter coinciding with the acne problem. It is one of the emerging acne treatments. The gel contains retinol which is a chemical that is partially extracted from vitamin A. Although acne pills also have the chemical, retinoid, the gel sounds safer and it normally does not have many side effects.

Gels can be used by people with normal or oily skin as it doesn’t help moisturize the skin and if used by people with dry skin, it will further dry the skin. Some of these gels do contain glycerin and dimethicone which improve the moisturizing effect. Gels have been proven very effective in treating moderate to moderately severe acne conditions. They are said to act deep into the pores and ranks high in safety, efficacy and tolerance.

Retinoids are not only used in acne gel treatment, but also in acne pills. Retinoids in both pill and gel form are just as effective in treating acne. However the difference between the two options is that it is relatively safer and better to apply a gel for treatment purposes than taking pills. In addition to this, gel does not come with as many side effects.

Types of acne gels:

Some examples of effective acne gels in the market are:

• Tazorac Gel. It has two variants, the tazarotene 0.05% and 0.1%. The second type is the one used in treating stable plaque psoriasis and mild to moderately severe acne. Before using tazorac gel, you have to make sure that your face is clean and dry and should be used once a day only, before bedtime.

• Differin Gel. The gel contains adapalene and is used as a topical treatment for acne vulgaris. Each gram of the product contains 0.1% of adapalene consisting of carbomer 940, poloxamer 940, edetate disodium, methylparaben, polomaxer 182, propelene glycol, purified water and sodium hydroxide.

• ClearSkin-A Gel. The product is chosen to treat acne on a number of levels. It contains an extract from different herbs. The clinical test of this product shows that it effectively cures acne because of its antibacterial properties.

• Phytome Acne Gel. This is a natural product that can be used in treating acne. It is made from the natural herb extracts. Since there are no harsh chemicals in this product, it does not dry the skin and it does not cause irritation.

Gels are of course not the only acne treatments, and it happens that some people don't tolerate them, or just don't like using them. 5 Acne Treatment Tips You Can Use Today

Luckily, there are a number of things you can do everyday to make sure your skin is less prone to flare ups. Here are five tips for taking control of your acne starting today.

1. Exercise

Keeping in shape can help fight acne by fighting off negative stress levels that can come from negative self-esteem and depression. However, some safeguards need to be in place to ward off acne that can result from your workout routines. Watch what you put on your body with regards to clothing, sports gear and equipment.

For example, tight lycra and nylon exercise outfits might look great in the movies and on magazine models, but if you are susceptible to acne problems, avoid these synthetic fabrics that tend to trap in body moisture and heat resulting in a bacteria frenzy. Instead, choose loose clothing made of cotton or natural blends to allow more air to get to your skin.

And when you are finished with your workout, get out of clothing wet from perspiration or water sports. Shower and change into dry, clean clothing. And keep your sports gear and equipment clean, too. Dirty headgear, for instance, can irritate forehead areas prone to acne problems. So toss headbands into the washing machine after workout sessions.

2. Cosmetics

To avoid pore-clogging and skin irritations that are similar to acne and that can contribute to acne, use products labeled noncomedogenic or oil-free. Shimmering facial colors can contain a flaky mineral called mica that can cause skin irritations and clog pores. Other additives in coloring that can cause similar reactions are coal tar derivatives, carmine and heavy cream in blushes.

More preventative measures include using a lip gloss that promotes a matte finish instead of a high gloss for less pore-clogging; note the more the shine, the more then comedogenic content and the more the pores can clog. Beware that eye creams can contain heavier concentrations of moisturizers than regular creams and lotions, meaning they have greater potential to clog pores in the surrounding facial areas.

3. Diet

Studies show that diet does not play a role in either the cause or the treatment of acne. However, what is recommended for acne preventative care is this: what is best for your body is best for your skin, especially since your skin is the largest organ of your body. So remember to watch your diet and consume healthy vitamins, minerals and other supplements. This will help to prevent and help conquer acne breakout.

4. Hygiene

A healthy skin regimen should include no harsh scrubbing or over-washing, because this can cause possible skin irritation or possible over production of oil to replace what has washed off, clogging pores in the process. Products with gentle exfoliation ingredients are OK to use; i.e. not scratchy nut or fruit shell pieces that can tear skin. And skip alcohol products when possible; these can take off the top layer of your skin and cause your glands to product more oil, clogging pores in the process.

If you do spot acne-troubled areas, do NOT mess with them. Remember that these are already weeks in the making, and squeezing or picking blemishes can force the infected area to regress back inside, further troubling the region and possibly leave a scar. If necessary, seek help from a dermatologist for alternative treatments.

5. Shaving

Shaving for both genders is actually an excellent way of exfoliating or removing dead skin to help with the prevention and spreading of acne instead of leaving the remains to clog pores. And for some light acne cases already in process, shaving can help rid whiteheads and blackheads from the face. A word of caution: for areas with infection or high inflammatory activity (redness, sensitive, open acne, sores, etc.), do not shave. Or at the very least, use a shaving cream for sensitive skin
